Since 1949, Royal Enfield motorcycles have been sold in India. Following independence, the Indian government ordered 800 motorcycles for the army and police. Royal Enfield India manufactures and sells motorcycles in India and exports to Europe, South Africa, the United States, and Australia. Royal Enfield has undergone significant changes, particularly in the engine. Previously, Royal Enfield used carbureted cast-iron engines, but now they use twin-spark engines with EFI in 500 cc engines.
